How I will
measure success? -Do the girls
want to play soccer next season?
-Do
the girls look forward to practices?
-Are
we playing as a team? (positions, plays, passing)
-Winning
is nice but not our primary goal.
How will
you measure success?
I would
like the girls to continue to try a variety of positions on the field, but this
is the age that we will be looking at specific skills for specific positions.
Hopefully each girl will find a few favourite positions on the field where we
can build their confidence and skill level.
Our
practice time is Tuesday 6:00 to 7:00pm at Riverview Park. We only have ¼ of the
field for one hour. I am asking you to be at practice by 5:50 to warm-up and
practice will start promptly at 6pm.
Our home
game time is Sunday 10:30am at Miller Park. To all games you should arrive a ½ hour
prior to game start time. A complete
schedule will be handed out as soon as I have confirmed all the times and
locations. For now:
Sunday, September 8th 2:30 at Inter-River Park Field #2 in North
Vancouver
Sunday, September 15th 10:30 at Miller Park
Sunday, September 22nd 10:30 at Miller Park

Housekeeping
items:
-Please inform me if you have any
allergies I should know about.
-Soon Doug will have a Terriers’ website set up
where you can retrieve team information. [DONE: http://www.smythies.com/soccer/terriers/index.html]
-Please balance your activities, soccer may not
be your #1 activity but you are on a team and there is a certain amount of
commitment that comes along with that.
-School
work and activities come first. Soccer is not an excuse to let your
grades slip. Also this is your first year of middle school, enjoy the
activities, clubs, sports that are offered. You will meet new friends and have
great fun!
-Do we want oranges at the games?
-Never forget a water bottle to practice or
games. Rehydration is very important.
-No jewelry is allowed when playing soccer.
-We practice and play outside. Please dress
appropriately.
-You will get muddy and wet while playing
soccer. Usually the muddiest girl has played the best game. Who will get the
muddiest during our first rainy game?
-I am hoping to use the club’s mentoring
program this year. It would be 2 older female soccer players that would come to
help (maybe even run) some practices.
My phone
number is (604) 931-3825. A complete team list and game schedule will be
distributed at Tuesday’s practice.
