Try-Outs FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

There have been some good questions about tryouts. The e-mails are posted here [edited] for everyone to see:

Q: (From Dave, Alison’s dad): U12 girls should attend ALL U12 tryout dates?
A: Yes. And if you can not make one of the times slots please phone Dave Price (Gold Coach) at 604-469-1122.
Corrected answer (2002:04:02): NO, Girls do not attend every try-out. There will be some cuts after each try-out. For Wednesday, some girls will be asked not to attend.

Q: (From Dave, Alison’s dad). Noticed that U12 Gold/Silver A listed for April 1,3,7/02,but no listing for B tryouts.Assume then that B teams are made up with balance after A roster complete? Is there a third option,or do all girls that want to play U12 CCSA do so on gold or silver?

A: Yes. No, Yes.

Girls do not have to try out for "Silver B". After the "Gold" and "Silver A" teams are selected, all the remaining girls from try-outs plus all the rest that register will be split into the "Silver B", or house, teams. (At a later date, and similar to past years). This is different than the boys divisions, where they will have a "Bronze" division for house.

I know of the following examples for tryouts from our team:
. A girls wants to make the U12 "Gold" or "Silver A" rep teams next year. She comes to tryouts.
. A girl hasn't decided if she wants to play rep soccer next year. She comes to try outs to keep her options open. Note that she will need to decide for sure if and when she is offered a position on that team.
. A girl does not want to play rep soccer next year. She probably wouldn't come to try-outs. Some girls are considering to come to tryouts anyways for the experience.

Yes, all girls that want to play U12 CCSA do so on gold or silver.
Note that the majority, by far, of the players will be playing in the "Silver B", or house, division. (Assuming this years type numbers it would be 5 out of 7 teams or 72% of the players). I do not know if there is any talk of two "Silver A" teams.
