Note Before: The book has been converted to machine readable form via OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program. Several hundred OCR mistakes have been fixed, as well as some typos from the original book. Perhaps several new mistakes have been added. The master file is a microsoft word document. Click here (or right click and select save as) to view (save) a PDF version of the machine readable copy (~700 Kbytes). The machine readable form has the main advantages of being searchable as well as being a much smaller file size (even with the addition of a much higher resolution version of the charcoal sketch from a digital picture of the original, which hangs in my home office).

Reginald Eric Smythies autobiography "Around the World in Eighty Years" is available herein as scanned PDF files. It was scanned twice, if you have troubles with one version of the page, then try the other scan of the same page.

In the PDF there can be trouble to read some of the hand written corrections. Someday I might try to fix.

It is recommended that you copy the files to your computer and then view or print them from there. Instead of normal "clicking" on a link, "right click" instead and then select "save target as".

If you have a MAC computer, then if you pass the cursor over the lower center portion of the page your should see a tools window. Select the view with preview option and use the preview program and tools to rotate the pages and save the file to your local disk. I might add some aid screen shots from my daugthers MAC at a later date.

Thanks go to Elizabeth for making an excellent copy of the book on 8.5 X 11 inch paper (similar size to A4) that I was able to easily scan to PDF with an autofed device at the office. Although I promised to do this almost 2 years ago.
