2010.09.26 For the Apache web server version 2.0 the "AddHandler" line in the configuration file is not enough. The module must also be enabled, and this requirement is not obvious from the documentation.
For this smythies.com system it meant enabling the module, either via manually adding a link in the mods-enabled directory or using the "a2enmod" command.
If the imap (or imagemap depending on Apache server version) module is not enabled, then the map file is returned and displayed as a text file.
2010.09.24 After uncommenting the "AddHandler imap-file map" line in the apache2.conf file, create these pages to experiment with, and create examples for, Image Maps.
